Newcomer Johnny D, comes with his first single release on 8Bit records. Well known from his release on oslo records a few month ago his last Single >manipulation< was featured by a lot of well known artists like Ricardo Vilallobos, Richie Hawtin or Luciano. >Walkman< sounds a bit like an oldschool chicago house track. 100% coolness and satisfaction guaranty when you play the it. On B1 >dejau vu< is another excellent deep frisky track, based on a nice chord line which finds a finish in a playful tricky guitarsolo. B2 is a walkman remix from Ray Okpara. He tuned the track in a prime time killer ones. Big groove reduced to the max!

The talented and very young Massimo Di Lena was born in Naples in 1988. He listens to all kind of music since he was a child, from Michael Jackson to Tupac, Oasis, Madonna. At the age of 12 he prematurely starts listening to electronic music and Plastikman’s productions (Richie Hawtin). At the age of 14 he decides to buy 2 cdj and a mixer to better interact with music and he starts playing hip-hop music accordingly with the trend of the time, even though the passion for this kind of music ends quickly whereas his interest for the techno increases. He decides then to buy two turntables and to invest his money in “vinyls” struggling to get a spot at friends’ parties or little events. At the age of 16, thanks also to his innate good musical ear, he starts using the programs for musical compositions and he is immediately willing to create new and different sounds. Massi DL, as he is known by today, has been mistakenly contacted by Multivitamins’ label in a chat and, as in the best novels, that was his opportunity to propose his tracks to the label Managers. The English label, positively impressed, has released 2 of his tracks, multivitamins 04 and 05. Today, this tiny Neapolitan talent, has signed with other labels like safari electronique, leftroom, frankie rec. and he is going to surprise u with some more fresh stuff in the future..stay tuned!

Richie Hawtin @ Ultra Radio 27.10.2007

Hawtin has recorded music under the aliases Plastikman, F.U.S.E, Concept 1, Circuit Breaker, The Hard Brothers, Hard Trax, Jack Master, and UP!. He also recorded and performed, in combination with other artists, under group names such as 0733, Cybersonik, Final Exposure, Spawn, and States Of Mind. Additionally, Richie and Pete Namlook collaborated to produce the From Within series of albums blending minimal techno and ambient sounds. He has also released an album Sounds of the Third Season with Sven Väth.

Although he was born in Banbury, Oxfordshire in England, Hawtin has spent most of his life in LaSalle, Ontario, a suburb of Windsor, Ontario. Hawtin attended Sandwich Secondary High School in LaSalle. He spent part of 2002 and 2003 living in New York City, and has since moved to Berlin, Germany. He has one brother, Matthew, who is a visual artist and ambient music DJ. Circa 1993, Hawtin was billed for DJ appearances under the name Richie Rich, a name also used by an American hip hop music DJ who was a member of 3rd Bass, and also a UK house music DJ who was actively producing remixes around the same time. Hawtin collaborated with choreographer Enzo Cosimi to create a composition called "9.20" for the 2006 Winter Olympics opening ceremony.

In 2007, Slices DVD magazine launched a series of biographies called "Pioneers of Electronic Music", with the first issue being a roughly 60 minute documentary dedicated to the life of Richie Hawtin. The film follows his career from his early days crossing the border to Detroit to his current life in Berlin, interviewing many colleagues and family members.
